Nigeria crashes out of African Cup of Nations qualifying

Here's a major surprise in the soccer world. Nigeria has failed to qualify for the African Cup of Nations as they crashed out in the qualifying stages. It is a major embarrassment for the soccer proud nation. The failure marks the first time in 25 years Nigeria has failed to qualify.

Expect heads to roll both in the management positions as well as on the squad. It is clearly a time for a new direction as they strive to keep Nigeria relevant on the world soccer scene.

They crashed out being held to a 2-2 home draw to minnows Guinea. Yes Guinea held the mighty Super Eagles on their home turf. It was the same old same old. Nigeria never lacks technical ability and flare. That was on display as usual. Instead it was organization and communication.

Ahead 2-1 all they needed was to see the match out and they would slip through. Instead the bench thought they still needed another goal to improve their goal differential. The Nigerians pushed forward looking for a third goal. Holes were left in the back and Guinea punished them in the dying moments.

Yes it should never have come down to a home result against Guinea though. Nigeria has far too much talent to not qualify for the Cup of Nations.
