Mexico over Argentina for Pan Am Games gold

Mexico claimed the gold medal in the Pan Am games on their home soil with a 1-0 win over Argentina Friday. Jeronimo Amione scored in the 75th minute to the delight of the home crowd. Amione scored the winner with a right-footed shot from inside the area after a pass from Javier Aquino, giving Mexico its fourth gold in men's soccer at the games.

While most teams at the tournament sent squads to aimed at preparing for next year's Olympics to be held in England, Mexico sent a squad aimed at winning the Pan Am title.

Uruguay claimed the bronze medal by squeeking past Costa Rica 2-1.
