Germany and China played to a 1-1 draw in Shanghai, China Friday with both goals coming in the opening 10 minutes of play. China jumped ahead in the 5th minute on a Hao Junmin goal. Germany immediately had a response though as Lukas Podolski levelled the match in the 8th minute.
China looked the livelier side on the night, but could not find the winner as German keeper Robert Enke stood tall in the net. Germany now travels to Dubai where they will face the United Arab Emirates on Tuesday to complete their friendly tour.

Players to boycott Peru callups?
The drama continues in Peru. Now Peruvian players are threatening to boycott callups for South American qualifiers demanding wholesale changes in how the sport is run in the country. Of course they will not boycott the upcoming qualifiers in early June though.
This is just the latest in what has become South America's worst soccering nation as Peru sits last in the South American qualifying group for World Cup 2010. They have suffered such humiliating defeats as 6-0 to Uruguay and 5-1 to Ecuador.
the agreement had been signed by all the locally-based professionals, who make up the bulk of the national team. One of the union's main demands is to increase the number of clubs eligible to vote for the president of the Peruvian Football Federation. The domestic game is in a deplorable state with players often complaining they have not been paid wages for months and clubs sometimes struggling to even find training pitches.
"The federation will undertake an exhaustive analysis of all the requests," the FPF said in a statement. "The federation will maintain its policy of keeping its doors open to dialogue."

Prince William and Beckham kick off England World Cup bid
Prince William, Prime Minister Gordon Brown and David Beckham helped England kick off their campaign to host the World Cup in 2018 or 2022 at a launch party at Wembley Stadium. Football Association chief Lord Triesman, who is also the chairman of the bid, emphasised the quality of England's stadia, infrastructure and the country's cultural mix in his opening speech.
Triesman said: "We in England would be truly honoured to host the World Cup and welcome the world. We have first class grounds. We've got good transport links, domestically and internationally.
England's main rivals to host the World Cup are fellow Europeans Spain and Russia, while the USA and Australia are also bidding. But David Beckham, who is one of the most recognised footballers in the world, claimed England could offer a passion none of the other hosts could provide.
Monday's high-profile event at Wembley will be followed by a meeting for representatives from 15 cities, Birmingham, Bristol, Derby, Hull, Leeds, Leicester, Liverpool, London, Manchester, Milton Keynes, Newcastle, Nottingham, Portsmouth, Sheffield and Sunderland, who are all hoping to host matches hould England's bid be successful.

New China coach targeting World Cup 2014
New China National Soccer team coach Gao Hongbo has targeted qualification for World Cup 2014 and asked fans patience as there is lots of work to be done to retool the squad.
"We need to deploy our wisdom and strengthen our core to advance with the mainstream of international football," Gao said.
The former China international striker replaced Yin Tiesheng, who has been managing the team on a temporary basis since the departure in December of Serbian Vladimir Petrovic. Petrovic was dismissed after China was eliminated from 2010 World Cup qualifying.
Gao's first test comes in a friendly against world powers Germany in Shanghai later this month. China will not have a World Cup qualifying match until November when they face Lebanon. At 43, Gao is the youngest coach ever to lead China.

Frantisek Straka to take over Czech Republic
Frantisek Straka has been appointed coach of Czech Republic in replacement of Petr Rada who was fired last month following poor displays in World Cup qualifying matches against Slovakia and Slovenia. The Czech squad drew on the road at Slovenia and then dropped a 2-1 decision at home to Slovakia.
"It is a dream fulfilled but I am not the main issue at the moment," Straka told the CTK news agency after narrowly beating Dusan Uhrin, who led the team to the final of Euro 96, in a Czech FA committee vote.
The Czechs are fourth in European Group Three, on 8 points currently 5 points behind leaders Northern Ireland, but with a game in hand. Slovakia sits on 12 and Poland 10. The Czech Republic next takes the field in September with a road match at Slovakia and a home game with San Marino.
