Mexico upset Brazil at U17 World Cup

Mexico bounced back from an opening loss to Switzerland by riding a second half goal to a 1-0 victory over Brazil at the Under 17 World Cup in Nigeria. The result throws leaves Brazil and Mexico tied on three points while Switzerland sits at six after beating Japan earlier in the day.

Mexico looked the better side in the opening half, but neither side was able to snatch the opening goal. It was a corner kick which allowed Mexico to grab the winner in the 70th minute. The corner swerved in near post where the Brazilian keeper dove out to cut it off. The ball bounced away right to Miguel Basulto who finished low to the backpost.

Brazil searched for the equalizer, but Mexico keeper Jose Rodriguez stood strong in the nets allowing Mexico to hold on for the important win. Mexico will face Japan to close Group B play while Brazil faces unbeaten Switzerland who has already clinched passage into the final 16.
