Holland became the first side from Europe to earn a place in the 2010 World Cup as they travelled to Iceland winning 2-1. The Dutch have a perfect six wins in six matches thus far in qualifying.
Holland got the early goal they had been seeking when in the 9th minute when Nigel De Jong headed in a perfect cross from Rafael Van der Vaart. Just 7 minutes later Holland found the 2nd goal as Mark Van Bommel found the net from just outside the penalty area.
The second half was much quieter but Iceland made it an exciting finish when Sigurdsson headed in Arnor Smarason's inswinging free-kick in the 87th minute to draw Iceland within a goal.
With Group 9 won by Holland it leaves the rest to fight it out for 2nd and a playoff position. Scotland currently holds the spot with 7 points from 5 matches followed by Iceland on 4.
